It was a sigh of relief for presidential Aspirants after the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) agreed to extend the April, 28 deadline for naming running mates to May 16 2022.

Kenya Kwanza team however seemed cool and ready to name their presidential running mate.
While many had expected the running mate position to be a headache for both Kenya Kwanza and Azimio-One Kenya Alliance, the quest seems to be a source of problem of the latter than the former.
“We in Kenya Kwanza have no problem if the deadline to pick running mate is not extended. We are ready since our candidate has not been held hostage by other forces. He doesn’t need a committee to advice him on who he should pick” The Mathira law maker had said.
Azimio-One Kenya Alliance whose presidential candidate is Raila Odinga has been unable to decide on who should be the running mate and has so far convened a committee in a quest to find the most suitable candidate.
With expections so high that the running mate will hail from vote rich Mt Kenya region, suitable candidates are lining up to prove themselves worth and fit for the position.
