Gathoni Wa Muchomba Calls on Kang’ata to Expose Ruto’s Broken Promises to Kenyans

Githunguri Member of Parliament Gathoni Wa Muchomba has stirred debate after publicly urging Murang’a Governor Irungu Kang’ata to write another open letter to President William Ruto, highlighting the government’s shortcomings.

Taking to her X (formerly Twitter) account, Wamuchomba outlined grievances she believes Kenyans are grappling with, calling for immediate action.

“I urge Governor Kang’ata to write to the president. The situation is dire, and someone needs to tell him the truth,” Wamuchomba wrote.

She accused the president of failing to deliver on key promises, noting that frustrations are mounting across various sectors.

Wamuchomba cited an array of concerns, including allegations that farmers in Tigania, Meru, are yet to receive their tea bonuses because they were forced to pay for subsidized fertilizers.

Similarly, she pointed out that tea farmers from Kapset, Rorok, Litein, and Kapkoros factories are facing delays in their rightful payments due to unfulfilled government subsidies.

“This government promised farmers relief, but instead, they’re paying for subsidies that were supposed to help them,” she said, adding that the frustration among farmers has reached a breaking point.

The outspoken MP also referenced the 6 billion shilling Cherry Fund for coffee farmers, claiming part of the money, 2.1 billion shillings, was diverted to buy treasury bills.

“Farmers are shocked to hear their money isn’t available to them as promised. This is unacceptable,” she remarked.

Wamuchomba further accused the administration of neglecting university students, many of whom are yet to receive their HELB loans. She described the delay as “a betrayal of the youth who were promised accessible education.”

Adding to her critique, she highlighted the growing discontent within the religious community.

“Some clergy are even finding it difficult to mention the president’s name during national prayers. That’s a sign of spiritual and moral disconnect,” Wamuchomba claimed.

In an unexpected twist, Wamuchomba suggested a creative alternative if Kang’ata chooses not to pen the letter.

“If you can’t write this letter, then let’s compose a reggae collabo,” she quipped, sparking mixed reactions online.

Her remarks come amid reports of President Ruto’s condolence message being rejected at a Murang’a funeral, a reflection of the growing frustration in parts of the country.

“Mourners simply refused to listen. That speaks volumes about the disconnect between this administration and the people,” she noted.

Irungu Kang’ata ran into trouble with President Uhuru Kenyatta while serving as the Senate Majority Whip after writing a letter to the president highlighting the discomfort people from the central region had with the BBI Initiative.

In his letter, which Kang’ata claimed was leaked to the media, he insisted that he had met several leaders across the region who opposed the initiative, arguing that it failed to address critical issues affecting farmers.
