Nakuru County Governor, Lee Kinyanjui has slammed Deputy President William Ruto’s pledge to revert port operations to Mombasa from Naivasha inland port if he is elected as the president in the August General elections
The county boss said the Kenya Kwanza leader’s sentiments amounts to economic sabotage.
“We are shocked and dismayed by utterances attributed to a section of leaders promising that the Naivasha Dry Port and railway will be terminated should their coalition win.” Kinyanjui said
“My only question is: Nakuru si Kenya? Instead of engaging in conversations on how to enlarge the national cake and reach everyone, we are entertaining retrogressive policies targeting certain regions for short-term political expediency.”

Kinyanjui who is seeking to retain his seat on Jubilee Party ticket said that the DP’s statement was an indication of the contempt with which some national leaders hold Nakuru County.
“We thank you for showing your true colours in good time.After years of gross marginalization and neglect, they have now resorted to economic sabotage of Nakuru.We take this statement as a direct affront to the interests of Nakuru County and will confront it with all the force necessary.”
“We are not lesser citizens than other parts of the country and will not watch forces keen on derailing our development agenda.”
While receiving Kilifi County Governor Amason Kingi who ditched Raila Odinga’s coalition, Ruto said that the projrct was held hostage and impoverished the Coastal people.
Ruto said that if he wins the August 9 election, he will undertake administrative and legal steps to reverse some aspects of the project which, he said, had become the biggest impoverishment to the people of Mombasa and the Coast region.
