Kirinyaga County Governor Anne Waiguru has condemned the arbitrary arrest of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party politicians
According to reliable sources, the politicians were arrested after they were accused of planning to disrupt Azimio rally in Kirinyaga
“I strongly condemn last evening’s arbitrary arrests of UDA aspirants, officials & supporters perpetrated by State in a futile attempt to make them support Azimio. We demand the immediate release of Kirinyaga Majority Leader & incoming Senator James Kamau Murango, UDA coordinator Gichangi Bosco & all UDA supporters still in custody on political witch hunt.” Governor Waiguru said
Waiguru also termed the naming of Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua as Azimio La Umoja One Kenya coalitions running mate as inconsequential

“No amount of intimidation or blackmail will change the fact that #KirinyagaNiUDA. Even Martha’s entry can’t & wont make Azimio’s entry in Kirinyaga any easier!”
Raila Odinga who is the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya presidential candidate will visit Kirinyaga to popularize their bid
Karua was named as Raila’s running mate at KICC,Nairobi.Raila said that they had decided that the holder of the Deputy President’s office has to be a woman.
“I will describe this woman – at the age of 24 she became one of the youngest magistrates. She was also among the youngest parliamentarians when elected to office in 1992. When I was arrested and placed in detention, she led a team of 27 lawyers who defended me at great personal risk.”
“My dear comrades, cometh the hour, cometh the woman, I have picked as my running mate, and Cabinet Secretary for Justice and Constitutional Affairs, the Honourable Martha Wangari Karua,” Raila stated.
