In a heartfelt revelation, Ugandan music icon Joseph Mayanja, famously known as Jose Chameleone, has announced a temporary retreat from the stage this festive season due to health challenges.
The award-winning artist, renowned for his electrifying performances and timeless hits, will be absent from the traditional year-end celebrations that have endeared him to millions of fans.
“This festive season marks a first for me—spending it away from the stage and away from all of you, my beloved fans. Unfortunately, my hospitalization has disrupted our annual tradition of celebrating together through music,” Jose Chameleone shared in an emotional statement.
The star, whose music has transcended borders and earned him multiple awards, revealed that his health journey has required hospitalization at Nakasero Hospital, followed by further treatment in the United States. Despite the setbacks, his message was filled with gratitude and hope.
“I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the promoters who have consistently believed in me and to the fans who have always shown up to support me,” he said, emphasizing the deep connection he shares with his supporters.
Chameleone, whose career spans decades, also expressed appreciation for the unwavering support he has received during this trying time.
“I’m deeply thankful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and well-wishes from my fans, friends, and family during my hospital stay. I also appreciate the exceptional care I received from Nakasero Hospital,” he added.
“A heartfelt thank you to my dear friend Juliet Zawedde, who selflessly sacrificed her holiday to accompany me to the United States for further treatment,” he said.
As Jose Chameleone temporarily steps away from performing to focus on his recovery, fans around the world have rallied to show their love and solidarity. Social media has been flooded with messages of encouragement, with many expressing anticipation for his return to the stage.
“I will return stronger and better, God willing,” Chameleone assured, leaving fans hopeful for a triumphant comeback.
The Badilisha hit maker is currently battling acute pancreatitis, a condition reportedly linked to prolonged alcohol consumption.
This health challenge necessitated his hospitalization at Nakasero Hospital in Kampala, where he was receiving treatment.
His eldest son, Abba Marcus, disclosed that doctors have advised Chameleone to make significant lifestyle changes, particularly concerning his alcohol intake, to mitigate the risks associated with this condition.
