CNN's African Voices returns with a special edition of My Drive, revisiting some of the most memorable conversations from the digital series, including a special stop in Nairobi featuring Larry Madowo and veteran broadcaster Maina Kageni.

Hosted by Lamide Akintobi, the episode looks back at a season that brought viewers closer to influential personalities across Africa and beyond. A key feature follows Madowo as he joins Kageni for a drive through Nairobi, where the celebrated radio presenter reflects on nearly three decades in broadcasting and the secrets behind his longevity in an ever-changing industry.

"The day I wake up and I feel like I'm going for a job is the day I'll quit," Kageni tells Madowo. The conversation explores Kageni's remarkable media career, including more than two decades co-hosting one of Kenya's most successful breakfast radio shows.

Discussing how he has maintained relevance with younger audiences, Kageni explains, "We have to change our attitudes literally every three years or so. Otherwise, it will become irrelevant." The pair also discuss Kageni's well-known love of luxury cars. "I'm obsessed with BMW X6, to be specific," Kageni tells Madowo. "The first time I saw it, I knew this is my car."

Towards the end of the drive, Kageni shares advice for aspiring entertainers and broadcasters, highlighting the importance of consistency and dedication, "You've got to have a talent. There's got to be something you're going to be doing that is second to none."
