Gachagua made the remarks on Sunday, November 1, 2026, during a church service at PCEA Kamangu Parish in Kikuyu Constituency, Kiambu County.
He maintained that Kalonzo had changed politically after working closely with him for two years and would not betray Kenyans by abandoning the opposition.
According to People Daily, Gachagua challenged government allies seeking to negotiate with Kalonzo to approach him directly at his Wamunyoro residence instead of pursuing the Wiper leader privately.
He jokingly described Kalonzo as their cousin and appointed himself the family's spokesperson, insisting that anyone interested in persuading the former Vice-President should first consult him.
The former Deputy President also expressed confidence that Ruto's political allies would not succeed in convincing Kalonzo to abandon the opposition.
The remarks come amid growing efforts by Kenya Kwanza leaders to persuade Kalonzo to support Ruto's re-election bid in 2027.
Y News reported that Gachagua's warning was directed at government leaders who have been publicly urging the Wiper leader to reconsider his political position.
Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen is among those who have recently challenged Kalonzo over his continued association with opposition leaders.
However, Kalonzo has maintained his opposition to joining Ruto's administration.
TUKO.co.ke reported that the Wiper leader had rejected the political overtures, insisting that his political ambitions remained separate from those of the current government.
The disagreement has also attracted reactions from other opposition leaders, with Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua expressing confidence that Kalonzo would remain committed to the opposition.
Capital FM and The Eastleigh Voice also highlighted Gachagua's declaration, with the former Deputy President maintaining that government allies had little chance of persuading his political ally to change sides.
Gachagua's latest remarks come days after he hosted Kalonzo and DAP-K leader Eugene Wamalwa at his Wamunyoro residence on October 26 for discussions surrounding opposition unity.
The growing political exchanges reflect the competition for influential opposition figures as different political camps begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 General Election.
