Voting in Mahoo ward in Taita Taveta County kicked off earlier today pitting Jubilee Party and deputy president William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance.
Mahoo ward has 6,000 registered voters, voting will take place in 13 polling stations across the ward.
The two main contestants are are Jubilee’s Fundi Banton and UDA’s Daniel Kimuyu
Orange Democratic Movement is supporting Jubilee Candidate who also has the backing of Taita Taveta county governor Granton Samboja.
Former Taita Taveta county Governor John Mruttu is supporting Daniel Kimuyu of UDA.
The two are seeking to replace the late Ronald Sangurani who had been elected on a Jubilee ticket.
The Poll has been seen as a battle between the president and the deputy president.
