According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the suspects were flushed out of a hideout in the Makutano–Ngomongo area following intelligence reports that placed them in the region after the violent robbery.
How Detectives Cracked the Ngong Robbery Case
“Acting on credible and actionable intelligence, our officers conducted a coordinated operation targeting the suspects’ hideout,” the DCI said.
The multi-agency team, drawn from Ngong Police Station, DCI units and officers from Mwea–Makutano, arrested Alex Wanjiku alias Aleko, Job Wachira Wanjohi, and Francis Kinyanjui Wanjiku alias Kinyaa.
Detectives believe the trio is behind a robbery with violence incident in Ngong on March 12, 2025, during which a victim was shot and seriously injured.
“The suspects are strongly linked to the Ngong robbery where a victim sustained serious gunshot injuries,” investigators stated.
Glock 17, Motorcycle and Clothing Recovered
Police recovered a Glock 17 pistol loaded with 11 rounds of ammunition during the arrest, a key development in linking the suspects to the crime.

“One suspect, Francis Kinyanjui Wanjiku alias Kinyaa, was found in possession of a Glock 17 pistol loaded with 11 rounds, further strengthening the case against the group,” the DCI confirmed.
Authorities also seized a red motorcycle, registration number KMGD 970K (TVS), believed to have been used as a getaway vehicle during the Ngong robbery.
“In addition, officers recovered clothing believed to have been worn by the suspects during the commission of the crime, providing crucial evidentiary support,” the agency added.
Police Probe Wider Criminal Network
The suspects are currently being held at Ngong Police Station as investigations intensify, with detectives pursuing leads on whether the trio is part of a wider armed robbery network operating between Nairobi and Central Kenya.
“They remain in custody as investigations continue, including efforts to establish links to other criminal activities,” police said.
The Kenya Police Service emphasized that the operation forms part of an ongoing crackdown on violent crime.
“This operation underscores our unwavering commitment to protecting the public and ensuring perpetrators of violent crime are brought to justice,” the DCI stated.
Security agencies have recently intensified intelligence-led operations targeting armed gangs across Nairobi and neighboring counties, amid rising concerns over organized robberies.
Members of the public have been urged to continue sharing information with authorities, with police assuring confidentiality for all informants.
The arrests mark a significant breakthrough in ongoing efforts to dismantle armed criminal networks and enhance public safety across the region.
