Omicron variant in Kenya

The Ministry of Health in Kenya has confirmed the first case of Omicron variant of Covid-19.

The cabinet secretary for health Mutahi Kagwe said that the three people who had the variant have been quarantined.

The new variant which has been reported in most countries across the globe, the variant spreads faster.

The Omicron variant likely will spread more easily than the original SARS-CoV-2 virus and how easily Omicron spreads compared to Delta

The new variant is said to be vaccine resistant.

Mutahi Kagwe urged the council of governors to start putting in measures and isolation centres incase of any eventuality

Kagwe also urged Kenyans to be vaccinated as this will reduce the effects that might arise from the new varriant.The three were two Kenyans and one South African.
