Opposition Firestorm: MPs Slams Kenya Kwanza’s Power Grabs, Backs Gen Z Uprising

Deputy Minority Leader who is also Kathiani MP Robert Mbui has called on the Kenya Kwanza Government to be prepared for a strong opposition even though they are using all strategies to weaken it.

Speaking in Kathiani constituency Mbui noted that several Azimio leaders have been handpicked for a repeat of what transpired after 2022 elections where other MPs were taken.

Mbui stated that Kenya Kwanza government has been targeting to weaken the Azimio side and it was heartbreaking as they government has been putting in place laws that are meant to over tax Kenyans.

He took issue with housing levy where the houses have never been seen, nssf, nhif among others and in 2024 he brought taxes on motor vehicle.

He said that the recent demos by Gen Zs was timely for the betterment of Kenya as a country and that handpicking Azimio leaders won’t make Finance bill pass and thus National resources should be divided equally and fairly and all corners of Kenya get equitable share.

Mbui took issue on the recent reshuffle were ukambani had 2 CSs but now only 1 has been left but that should not mean resources will be limited.

Mbui added that it was sad for Kenya police to have shot and killed several young men during the recent Gen Zs demos where in Kathiani he helped in burying 2 of them.

Mbui said Kenyans want Leaders and not dealers as many have been called to strike deals under the table to benefit them but as opposition they will unravel and shame them adding that soon freedom will come to Kenya. He called on Gen Zs not to relent as this will help straighten up Kenya Kwanza government.

He also took issue with many trips that the President is having and called on him to stay in office and work for Kenyans

His sentiments were supported by Githunguri Mp Hon Wambui Wamushomba who said that any law meant to add taxes to Kenyans won’t see the light of the day in parliament.

She said that as a woman she won’t allow more taxes to Kenyan mothers more so the basic needs. She said that most leaders are fighting for themselves more so having big salaries, big cars yet they have forgotten the electorates and that Gen Zs should go on with their demos. She added that fuel levy on road maintenance has been increased from kshs 18 to 25 and that was sad for Kenyans and once the parliament convenes they will put the question of why was it passed.

Wamuchomba said that Gen Zs demos were timely and that they were in full support. She insisted that they should not relent in their quest to help President hear the cry of the hustler/electorate.

She insisted that her stand was to fight for the  mama mbogas and normal Kenyans. She said that even if finance bill comes again and that it won’t be Mwananchi friendly she will be against it.She took issues on avocado farmers who are to be taxed on the farm yet no input to the farmers on free fertilizers, pesticides among others. She insisted that she won’t allow kenyan farmers to be pushed in a corner.

On Gen Zs ,Wamuchomba said that the allegations that they were funded wasn’t true but they were trying to voice the problems Kenyans are facing.

Former Limuru MP Peter Mwathi said it was about time leadership changes and  now a new formation is looming for Kalonzo presidency.

He also insisted that the current Kenya Kwanza regime is pushing Kenyans to the wall with high taxes and they are tired. He said that the recent Gen Zs killings was painful to Kenyans yet they were out to say life is becoming hard and unaffordable. He took issue with the rising unemployment on youths and that Kenya kwanza promised youths won’t suffer any more.

Mwathi said his message was Mount Kenya was now ready to join hands with Kambas and other communities for betterment of our country.

The leaders spoke in Kathiani during presentation of NG-CDF cheques to
Kalikya primary worth Kshs.2,094,499 for tiling of all the classrooms, administration block and completion of an unfinished classroom and at Kinyau Secondary School were a cheque of Kshs 8.5 million for purchase of a brand new school bus.
