Rwanda suspends all flights from South Africa

RwandanAir on Sunday announced that all flights from the four Southern African cities that have been hit by the new COVID variant. The cities affected by the temporary suspension include Cape Town,Lusaka.Harare and Johannesburg.

The airline said that effective 29th November, 2021, passengers originating from Zimbabwe and South Africa will not be allowed to enter the United Arab Emirates.

Rwanda joined an increasing number of African countries that have suspended their flights with the Southern part of the African continent.

In Kenya, the ministry of Health permanent secretary Susan Mochache said that the government has no plans of suspecting or stopping people travelling from the Southern African countries but instead urged Kenyans to observe government directives: sanitize, wash hands, wear masks and avoid crowded places.

The Omicron has been variant has been detected in Botswana,Lesotho,zimbabbwe,South Africa Mozambique and Eswatini.
