Just Days after Senate Speaker Kenneth Lusaka was to be unveiled as Kenya Kwanza’s Bungoma gubernatorial aspirant at the Deputy President William Ruto’s residence in Karen.
A Nairobi-based Businessman Zachariah Barasa had declared his bid to dislodge incumbent Governor Wycliffe Wangamati on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party ticket has accused Deputy President William Ruto of shortchanging him
Barasa said that as they were joining UDA they were promised free and fair nominations and not selections, they promised hustlers, mama mboga, and Boda Boda will be allowed to participate in the elections to nominate their representatives.
“The party promised wanainchi that it was not after positions but to change leadership that reflects the wishes of the common man but right now leadership reflects the wishes of Karen sycophants and ford Kenya leadership .”
He accused the UDA Party of shortchanging Kenyans as the party has been dishing out Nomination papers in Karen
“The party gave wanainchi false hopes that leadership will not be determined in Karen or hotels in Nairobi but wanainchi will be allowed to choose its leadership but contrary it’s now busy selecting leadership in hotels and imposing on the people. “
“When the party advertised for those willing to participate in elections on its ticket it indicated an amount between Ksh 500,000/= and Ksh 25,000/= some aspirants sold cows, land, took security to shylock to raise the money with the hope that they will be allowed to participate in the primaries but to their surprise some were blackmailed into giving up position others were forced to give up the position.”
The Businessman said that No hustler was given a chance to participate in any election but they were replaced by dynasty/ looters of the economy.
“I was shocked today that women Rep aspirants and Mp aspirants from Tongaren were summoned before the elections board for selection instead of elections by the hustlers, They were told there shall be no nomination in Tongaren and even for Bungoma Women reps, as the county is already zoned.”
He alleged that the party has only allowed sitting MPs to defend their seats and handed the rest to Ford Kenya
On Monday, Kimilili Member of Parliament Didmus Barasa announced that Kenya Kwanza had settled on Lusaka as its preferred candidate in Bungoma
