Deputy President Rigathi Gahagua is hosting the members of the Kiambu county Assembly, Members of Parliament and the Governor of Kiambu to resolve the fallout between the MCAs and their Governor Kimani Wamatangi, whose impeachment is looming.
According to the Deputy President, the meeting will be held at his official Karen official Residence.
Gachagua took to X (formerly Twitter) to confirm that the meeting had blessings from the president who is aware of the wrangles in Kiambu County.
“The Ruto Administration roots for a strong devolution, and therefore, we have no room for squabbles that will derail service delivery to the people,” said Gachagua.
A section of Kiambu MCA’s are plotting to impeach Governor Kimani Wamatangi if he fails to appoint the County Executive Committee officers within 21 days.
The MCAs accused the Governor of failure to constitute an all-inclusive Cabinet for efficient service delivery in the county.
They want Wamatangi to appoint managers of Kiambu’s six municipalities which they say are in danger of losing funding to the tune of Ksh.1.3 billion annually, from the World Bank.
However another section of the MCAs shot down reports intimating that they are seeking to impeach Governor Kimani Wamatangi.
“The biggest problem we are having in the county of Kiambu is external influence coming from different quarters. We have other politicians, we have contractors, brokers and other people that are bringing this issue of destabilizing the county assembly of Kiambu,” Mburu said
