Expose the Killers: Salasya Breaks Silence on Albert Ojwang Death, Demands Resignation

Outspoken Mumias East MP Peter Salasya, a 2027 presidential hopeful, has issued a passionate appeal to a police officer linked to the tragic death of blogger Albert Ojwang, urging him to speak the truth in court and resist scapegoating.

Salasya also joined growing national calls for the resignation of Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen and Deputy Inspector General Eliud Langat.

Who Was Albert Ojwang?

Albert Ojwang was a young teacher, fearless digital activist, and outspoken voice from the Gen Z community. He was arrested under unclear circumstances last weekend and detained at Nairobi Central Police Station.

According to police, Ojwang “banged his head on a wall” — but this version has been strongly rejected by his family and human rights defenders. An autopsy revealed head trauma and injuries consistent with blunt force, sparking public outrage and allegations of a police cover-up.

Salasya’s Emotional Appeal to Officer Mukwana

In a statement delivered Friday, MP Salasya praised Police Constable Mukwana, who watched over him during his own recent three-day detention at the same station. He urged the officer to tell the truth when he appears in court on Monday.

“PC Mukwana, you are my brother from Malava… I plead with you — do not allow yourself to be used as a sacrificial lamb for someone else’s wrongdoing,” Salasya said.

The MP emphasized that justice must be grounded in truth — not loyalty to corrupt superiors.

“We live in a country governed by the rule of law. That principle must mean something. Let justice be guided by honesty, not hierarchy or fear.”

Demands for Justice and Accountability

Salasya called on the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) to arrest the officers who carried out the actual arrest of Ojwang, not just those on duty during his detention.

“Accountability must not stop at the bottom,” he said.

He also proposed the creation of a union for junior police officers, saying many are often silenced while their seniors evade consequences.

“Too often, junior officers are manipulated. This must end.”

Pressure Mounts on CS Murkomen and DIG Langat

A growing wave of politicians, civil rights groups, and youth activists have demanded the immediate resignation of Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen and Deputy Inspector General Eliud Langat.

Critics accuse them of presiding over a police service increasingly seen as violent, unaccountable, and politically compromised.

“I still believe Albert’s bold, unyielding spirit will not rest until every stone is overturned,” Salasya declared.
“As Kenyans, we must unite — or we will perish, divided and defeated. Now is the time for truth to prevail.”

Nationwide Outrage and Protests Planned

Activist groups under the #JusticeForAlbert movement have announced peaceful protests in major towns next week. They are demanding for the resignation of DIG Eliud Lagat and other top officials
