Governor Muthomi Urges Vigilance as Counties Collaborate with National Government to Combat MPOX Outbreak

Tharaka Nithi County Governor and Chairman of the Council of Governors Health Committee, Muthomi Njuki, has urged county governments to remain alert to the potential threat posed by the MPOX disease.

Governor Njuki emphasized that counties are actively working in close coordination with the National Government’s Ministry of health to prevent the spread of the disease.

Speaking during the dedication ceremony at PCEA Nkio in Chuka, Governor Njuki highlighted the importance of a robust monitoring and reporting system that has been established to track the disease and manage any suspected cases.

Njuki noted that Kisii and Kiambu counties have already reported suspected cases, which are currently undergoing testing.

This development underscores the need for heightened vigilance across all counties to ensure any outbreak is swiftly contained.

Governor Njuki’s call to action serves as a reminder to all counties to utilize the established systems and collaborate closely with the National Government to safeguard public health.
