President William Ruto today presided over the destruction of over 6,000 illicit firearms at the National Police Leadership Academy in Ngong’, Kajiado County.

The weapons, recovered between 2022 and 2025, were destroyed as part of the government’s continued efforts to combat insecurity and reduce armed violence in Kenyan communities.

“The destruction of these illegal firearms signals our total focus in tackling insecurity and violence across the country,” President Ruto said.

He also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring accountability within the police service, emphasizing that rogue officers would not be tolerated.

“We are committed to protecting Kenyans from criminal elements in uniform. Those who abuse their power must be held to account,” he added.

The ceremony was attended by senior security officials, county leaders, and representatives from civil society involved in peace and disarmament programs.
