Mount Kenya University (MKU) student delegates have elected Sanju Ken as the Mount Kenya University Students Association (MKUSA) chairperson.
The third-year Public Administration student was elected by 53 delegates trouncing his competitors.
Sanju will serve the Mount Kenya University Students for the one-year term of 2022/2023.
Speaking to The Daily Whistle after being announced the winner, Sanju said that Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has been his source of motivation.
He thanked all the delegates for entrusting him and promised to work for all the students to the best of his knowledge
This year’s elections attracted a total of 38 aspirants. Other leaders that were elected include Adan Mumina will serve as the vice president Abdisalam Dahir –Secretary-general and Hassan Adan Somo who will head the Finance docket
Other Student leaders include Brian Lagat Academic, Paul Kanyi for Entertainment and social welfare and Wambua Msembi will be in charge of Sports.
MKU Students said that the delegate system was perfect as it simplifies the elections process, and also reduces chances of chaos hence conducive for all students, others were not satisfied with the system as it can be easily manipulated.
