It was a sigh of relief for city dwellers especially from Nairobi’s Mountain View slums after well-wishers came to their aid by donating them foodstuffs and bedding.
Over 2500 residents, both young and elderly, received their share of foodstuffs that included a loaf of bread, a packet of Milk, Banana, Cabbage, blanket.
They were later treated to a free lunch.
According to Ananda Magra Mission Chairman, Dinesh Kumar, the food distribution aims to alleviate economic hardship that has severely hit low-income earners.
Mr. Kumar urged Kenyans to support the less fortunate in society amidst tough economic times, reiterating his commitment to continue with his school feeding programme
“We felt it vital to come every week to give back to the community. Today we donated 500 blankets and other foodstuffs like bread, Bananas and milk. We are delighted to associate with Ananda Marga mission and we promise to support their good venture” he said
Speaking during the Distribution exercise, Kumar also called on other partners to join hands to help sustain the huge turnout that their mission usually receives.
