Suspect Arrested for Break-In and Oil Siphoning

Mukhtar Suleiman, 35, a well-known break-in artist, has been apprehended for his audacious attempt to siphon diesel from a telecommunication company facility.

The swift response by officers from Wajir Police Station led to his capture.

“Acting on intelligence received about the break-in at the Halane area during the early hours of Friday, August 2, 2024, officers responded swiftly,” stated a police spokesperson.

“They caught the suspect in the act of siphoning diesel from the facility.”

Despite the successful arrest, Suleiman’s accomplices managed to evade capture, disappearing into the darkness.

“The suspect’s accomplices managed to slip away, leaving him to face the consequences alone,” the spokesperson added.

Upon investigating the scene, officers recovered several items, including three full 20-litre jerrycans, one half-full 20-litre jerrycan of siphoned diesel, 14 empty 20-litre jerrycans, and a siphoning pipe.

“The suspect is currently being held at Wajir Police Station for processing pending arraignment, as the search for his accomplices continues,” the police representative confirmed.
