Newly formed U45 Unit Branch Chairman Olympia Musonye has predicted a bright future for AFC Leopards.
In addition, Musonye has clarified that he is ready to vie for the top seat as club chairman during next year’s elections if endorsed by AFC Leopards fraternity
Speaking during a well-attended Gala Award event staged at a Nairobi Hotel on Wednesday night, the youthful Musonye said he would not object to taking the chance if endorsed by club members.
Rumors have been circulating that Musonye is among the few candidates who have expressed their interest in the seat currently held by Dan Shikanda
“I can’t deny or confirm that I will vie for the top seat currently held by my longtime friend Shikanda but if endorsed by club members, I can’t object ” Musonye clarified
He said the current recruitment in the club looks impressive adding that with proper gelling among the new signings and the old players, he can see a bright future beckoning.
” I would be happy to see our club turn its fortunes, emulate, and join the league of prominent teams like our neighbor’s Yanga, Simba Sports Club, and Mamelodi of South Africa among other top Africa elite clubs”.
Musonye said they formed the U45 Unit Branch with a different objective “We want to set the bar high, we want to do bigger things and that is why we came up with the Awards Gala event. I can’t brag that we have money but our unity with stakeholders, and sponsors will take us somewhere.” he noted.
During the Gala event, Prime Cabinet Secretary Hon. Musalia Mudavadi poured good words for the U45 Unit Branch and called upon other branches to emulate them.
The team had just arrived a few days ago from Uganda where they drew 0-0 with local soccer giants Express FC at Nakivubo Stadium in Kampala.
