Nairobi, Kenya – June 22, 2025
Kileleshwa Member of County Assembly (MCA) Robert Alai has launched a scathing attack on the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC), accusing them of turning a blind eye to what he describes as dangerous and divisive remarks made by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
In a fiery social media post on Saturday, Alai warned that Gachagua’s recent utterances could destabilize the country if left unchecked, urging relevant agencies to act before the situation spirals out of control.

“Rigathi Gachagua and his minions in civil society are a danger to this country,” Alai posted on X (formerly Twitter).
“Yesterday, they were talking about civil war in 2027 and making it sound like a Christmas party. Today, Gachagua is calling for the boycott of businesses run by certain communities, while his agents in civil society are calling for the storming of State House.”

Alai questioned the silence of law enforcement and cohesion agencies in the face of such remarks.

“Meanwhile, DCI and NCIC are just watching like clueless chimps,” he said.
The outspoken MCA accused Gachagua of openly engaging in ethnic profiling while still enjoying the privileges of government protection and services.
He also raised concerns over unnamed civil society figures allegedly aligned with the former deputy president, claiming they were inciting unrest through coordinated online messaging and political mobilization.
“It’s worrying how some people can openly threaten national unity, and the very institutions mandated to act are quiet. This silence is enabling,” Alai added.

Efforts to reach the NCIC and DCI for comment on the matter were unsuccessful by the time of publishing. Neither Rigathi Gachagua nor his spokesperson had publicly responded to Alai’s remarks.

Alai is now calling for swift action, urging investigative agencies and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) to probe the statements and hold those responsible accountable under the National Cohesion and Integration Act.
