Gor Mahia treasurer Dolfina Odhiambo has declared she will run for chairman in the upcoming club elections.
Addressing a press conference in Nairobi on Monday morning, Dolfina said it’s time for the Kenya Premier League Champions to have fresh leadership that will guide Gor Mahia into the next chapter of its storied history.
‘’ its is essential for the club to embrace new ideas, new energy, and a forward-looking approach, especially as we face critical decisions regarding governance, financial management, and club operations. As such, we believe that the club must transition into a new leadership team that will take it to greater heights’’ said Dolfina Odhiambo
However, Dolfina has claimed that the current chairman, Ambrose Rachier, is deliberately attempting to sabotage the elections by extending his term.

‘’As you are aware, Gor Mahia Elections ought to have been conducted in August last year (2024). The delays were but deliberate attempts by the current club chairman to try and extend his illegal term’’ Dolfina Said.
Last week, the Sports Tribunal directed Gor Mahia to hold the election within 90 days. This ruling comes after the club’s executive committee, which has been in power since 2020, was found to be operating beyond its legal term, thus prompting the tribunal’s intervention.
As part of the order, three significant conditions have been put in place, which will guide the election process and ensure compliance with the Sports Act of 2013.
The tribunal also ordered the existing executive committee, led by chairman Ambrose Rachier, to continue to oversee the club’s activities during this transitional period, ensuring a smooth handover once the elections are conducted.
The tribunal’s directive highlights the urgency of the matter, urging the club to act quickly to comply with the stipulations of the Sports Act 2013, which mandates that such elections be conducted on time.
To this end, the treasurer has demanded the club’s chairman urgently, within 7 days establish a clear road map in line with the recent court ruling and earlier directed by the registrar of sports. She has also called on the club’s Secretary General Sam Ochola, to formally issue notice of the club’s AGM.
‘’That Gor Mahia elections be conducted by an independent and legal body to ensure free, fair, transparent, and verifiable election results and that the Ministry of Sports, Football Kenya Federation, and all relevant stakeholders, ensure Gor Mahia adheres to the court rulings without any further delays’’ she demanded.
The Current chairman of the Kenya record champions, Gor Mahia has been at the helm of the club for over 16 years, since elected in 2008.
