BangBet Brings Joy to Makueni: Food Donations for Widows and Orphans

BangBet Limited has once again proven its dedication to community development and support by organizing a food donation event for widows and orphans in Makueni County.

The event, held at Kako Comprehensive School, saw over 1,000 beneficiaries receive essential food items to celebrate the upcoming festive season.

Reverend Dr. Jane Makau, Chairperson of the Betting Control and Licensing Board (BCLB) and a native of the Kako area, led the event. Dr. Makau spoke passionately about the importance of empowering widows, who often bear the brunt of raising families on their own.

“Widows are the pillars of their households and their communities. By supporting them, we are uplifting entire families and ensuring a brighter future for the next generation,” she said.

Dr. Makau thanked BangBet for their generous contribution, describing the food donations as a significant act of kindness that would bring relief to many families.

“This initiative shows that BangBet is not just focused on business but is deeply committed to the well-being of the communities it serves,” she added.

BangBet’s Manager, David Gichuhi, emphasized the company’s commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility.

“Our CSR efforts are driven by the belief that we must give back to the communities that support us. Today’s event is about making a tangible difference in the lives of those who need it most,” said Gichuhi.

The event also saw the commissioning of a borehole project at Kako Comprehensive School, funded by BangBet and the BCLB. This project will provide clean water to the school and the surrounding community, addressing a critical need in the region.

Government officials, including Principal Secretary for Devolution, Teresia Mbaika Malokwe, and the President’s Advisor on Women’s Rights, Hon. Harriette Chiggai, were also in attendance. Both praised BangBet’s continued efforts to support vulnerable groups and urged more companies to engage in similar CSR activities.

The widows and orphans who attended the event expressed their gratitude for the donations, with many saying that the food would help them celebrate Christmas with dignity and joy.

BangBet’s CSR initiatives continue to uplift communities and set a positive example for other businesses in Kenya.
