Detectives from the Serious Crimes Unit and DCI Ruiru have arrested Dennis Wafula Wanabisi, a police officer attached to DCI Kibwezi, for his alleged involvement in a violent armed robbery in Mtito Andei on July 22, 2024.
According to investigators, four armed men, wearing jungle uniforms, raided 021 Club at Yikisaya Trading Centre, Kibwezi Sub-County. They brandished a pistol, ordered patrons to surrender their belongings, and shot a bar attendant in the stomach. The robbers fled with Ksh 50,000 in cash.
Minutes later, the gang stormed Seton Night Club at Darajani Shopping Centre, fired two shots in the air, and robbed customers of Ksh 25,850 and two mobile phones.
Ballistics Confirm DCI Officer’s Firearm Was Used
Investigators soon identified Officer Wanabisi as a key suspect. His firearm was confiscated, and ballistic analysis at DCI Headquarters confirmed that the empty cartridges from both crime scenes were fired from his gun.
“The ballistic tests provided undeniable evidence linking the officer’s firearm to the robberies. We are treating this matter with the seriousness it deserves,” said a senior DCI investigator.
