During a routine operation, officers manning a roadblock flagged down a Toyota Hiace matatu, where they discovered a concealed stash of marijuana.

The suspects, identified as Okuchil Ayubu, 40, and a daring 17-year-old juvenile, were promptly removed from the vehicle for further inspection.

Upon searching their bags, officers uncovered five bales of marijuana, weighing approximately 44 kilograms, with an estimated street value of Ksh 1,320,000.

“The fight against drug trafficking is relentless, and we are committed to bringing those responsible to justice,” stated a spokesperson for the DCI.

In a related incident, officers from Isebania Police Station, acting on a tip-off from vigilant citizens, conducted a swift operation in the Biamati area along the Mutemorabu-Boembu road.

The operation led to the recovery of five and a half sacks of marijuana, weighing a staggering 260 kilograms, with an estimated street value of Ksh 7,800,000.

“Public cooperation is invaluable in our ongoing fight against narcotics,” the DCI reiterated.

“We commend the citizens who provided this crucial information, which enabled us to make this major seizure.”

While the suspects in the Biamati incident managed to evade capture by fleeing into a nearby thicket, the DCI has assured the public that efforts are ongoing to track them down.

Criminal gangsThe recovered narcotics have been securely held as evidence, and the suspects from the Nambale-Busia road operation are currently in police custody, undergoing processing pending their arraignment in court.

As the DCI continues its nationwide efforts to dismantle drug trafficking networks, it remains steadfast in its commitment to protecting the public and ensuring that those involved in illicit activities face the full force of the law.

“Our message is clear: We will not rest until every individual involved in the trafficking of narcotics is brought to justice,” the DCI emphasized.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations extends its deepest gratitude to the public for their continued support and urges everyone to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
